The second step is identifying the period. The pre-calving transition, lactation, fattening, summer heat or winter months each require a different mineral-energy balance. For a herd approaching calving, Gold Pre-Calver is more suitable, while Gold Summer Formula fits the hot months better.
The third step is planning bucket count and size based on herd size. As a general rule, one bucket is recommended per 15-20 head of cattle or 20-25 head of small ruminants; adding more buckets for larger herds keeps consumption balanced.
